What kind of race cars will
I be driving?
- Jeff Gordon Racing School's race cars
are authentic NASCAR race cars.
They are the actual stock cars many drivers
have raced and taken to victory lane in
the NASCAR Cup Series. These cars are
utilized on oval superspeedways
- Mario Andretti Racing School's race
cars are full-sized, open wheel, open
cockpit, 600 horsepower, Indy-style
race cars. They are purposely built
strictly for the racing school. The Indy
Cars are utilized on oval superspeedways.
- Mario Andretti Racing School also offers
Open Wheel F2000 and BMW Z3
race cars. These cars are utilized for
our Road Course Track.
Jeff Gordon Racing School and
Mario Andretti Racing School offer many
different programs; must they be taken in
any particular order?
No, you may start with any of the programs
except for Lapping Days, which are available
to World Champion graduates.

What kind of race tracks will
I drive on?
Jeff Gordon Racing School and Mario Andretti
Racing School go to some of the nation's
premier superspeedways. Although each track
is an oval race track, configurations vary.
At the Las Vegas location, participants
also have the choice of road course racing
in open wheel F2000 race cars and race prepped
BMWs.
Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes. Limited space is available at every
location, so you will need to make a reservation
as soon as you know which location; date
and time you can do your experience. It
is best not to wait until the last minute.
Most classes will be sold out.
Can I get a refund for my gift
certificate or reservation?
No. Gift certificates and reservations
are non-refundable.
What do I wear?
Comfortable casual clothes depending on
the time of year. Wear closed toe shoes,
tennis shoes are recommended.
Do I need to bring racing gear?
No. Jeff Gordon Racing School and Mario
Andretti Racing School provide you with
everything you need except shoes and gloves.
Although Race shoes and Gloves are NOT required.
Can I eat before my experience?
Yes. Eat something simple and lightweight.
Can I take pictures and or
use video equipment.
Yes. Just not while in the cars.
Can I bring a friend to watch?
Absolutely. We encourage you to bring friends
and family. A track-side viewing area is
available at all tracks.
Are there any restrictions
regarding people that can or cannot ride/drive
these cars?
The rules are very simple to participate,
and no prior racing experience is required.
To Drive:
- Guests must be in good Physical Condition.
- Because of safety reasons, cars are
restricted to those 6'7" tall &
under and weigh less than 295 lbs. The
F2000 Road Course race cars size requirements
are 6'5" tall and under 250.
- Participants must have a valid drivers
license. Participants under the age of
18, must be accompanied by an adult who
must give written consent.
To Ride:
- Guests must be in good physical condition
- There is no age limit to ride, however
for safety reasons we do require a height
of 5'0" and a weight of 100 lbs.
- If under 18 years old, a parental consent
form must be signed.
Do I have to know how to drive
a stick shift?
- Stock cars, yes. These cars have a 4-speed
racing transmission.
- Indy-style cars, no. These cars have
a single gearbox, which makes them easy
for anyone to drive.
- F2000 cars, yes. These have a 4-speed
racing transmission
- BMW Z3 cars. Yes. These have a 5-speed
manual transmission.
Is passing allowed?
Yes. If you come up on a slower group,
your instructor will lead you around the
slower group.
What happens if I wreck a car?
You pay a $25 fee for racing license and
liability insurance. This releases you from
all vehicle damage.
The F2000 and BMW Z3's will require a deductible
to be paid.
How will the on track program
be structured?
Indy-style and Cup cars utilize a lead-follow
format. You will be in the race car alone
and follow your instructor while maintaining
a following distance of six to eight car
lengths. As long as you are following the
correct driving line and maintaining a proper
following distance, the instructor will
pick up the speed each lap. For BMW Z3 road
racing, your instructor will be in the passenger
seat while out on the course. Students drive
F2000 race cars at their own pace and may
pass other students while out on the track.

Racing School reserves the right to judge
participants' performance. Any person engaging
in activity we feel to be unsafe and dangerous
will forfeit their right to drive at our
discretion with no refund. If a program
is rained out, guests will be issued a gift
certificate to be used at a later date.

Look at the schedule. Choose a date and
time for your experience. Have your gift
certificate 5 digit number ready, and call

reservation will be made right over the

Can I upgrade my gift certificate
to another experience?
Yes. Call customer service at 1-877-RACE
LAPS, with your gift certificate number.
Customer service will charge you for the
difference in price, and upgrade your experience.
